Child Care Centers

Environmental health permits and inspects all child care centers operating in Greenbrier County. Child care centers are governed under West Virginia Division of Health rule 64 CSR 21.

This document outlines the requirements for operating a child care center in a safe and sanitary manner. ​Education.jpg

All new and renovated facilities shall contact the health department and submit an application/plan review document for approval. Once the application has been approved and all necessary fees paid, the facility shall contact the health department to schedule an opening inspection. 

​​​Depending on the type of food preparation conducted at the facility, the child care center may require a food establishment permit in addition to the child care center permit. Please contact the health department to determine if your facility will require a food establishment permit. In addition to health department permit, child care centers​ are licensed by the West Virginia DHHR and a license must be obtained before the health department may issue a permit. Licensing information can be found at the following link.
